The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for highly motivated and energetic individual to join Tameside Council as the Team Manager Commissioning for Children’s Services (Start Well).

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Commissioning Team in Tameside Children’s Services. The roles offer opportunities for personal and professional development and a chance for someone to bring their own skills, knowledge and experiences to contribute to service innovation and improvement within a fast-moving, demanding and ever-changing environment.

You will be responsible for delivering the commissioning agenda across Children’s Services including Early Help, SEND, and Social Care, through a place-based approach working with partners to achieve improved outcomes for children and young people.

The role of the Team Manager, is key to ensuring we have good quality provision in the market and they contribute to the market shaping of the sector. This will in-turn support having the right provision within Tameside and a responsibility for the oversight and delivery of commissioning and contracts held in the children’s services contract register. The Team Manager will work closely with the Head of Commissioning to ensure the right support in the right place at the right time for our children and young people.

About You

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, flexible, motivated person with experience of Commissioning and procuring Children’s Services including Early Help, SEND, and Social Care. You will have the ability to lead a team and organise workloads whilst meeting tight deadlines is essential.

You will be positive about change and have experience of supporting innovation, to drive improvements across Children’s Services. You will have experience of overcoming barriers to deliver successful outcomes. You must be capable of working on your own initiative to help drive and enable improved outcomes for or children and young people.

Applicants will require understanding of the Children’s and Families Act 2014, public procurement rules, as well as knowledge of the Council’s procurement standing orders, and applying them to the evolving Education, health & social care agenda.
