About iStandUK
iStandUK works with local authorities, government bodies, and industry partners to promote data standards that enable better public services. Our mission is to promote Data Standards that support Efficiency, Transformation, and Transparency of Local Public Services in the UK. One of our flagship initiatives is the ORUK project, which supports public sector organisations in adopting consistent, ethical, and standards‑based approaches to improving how they use, manage, and share data to deliver better outcomes for citizens.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Stakeholder Engagement Manager to lead and deliver engagement activity across the ORUK project. This is a high‑impact role, working nationally with councils, central government, data standards bodies, technology suppliers, and wider public sector partners. You will ensure stakeholders understand, adopt, and advocate for the SAVVI approach and contribute to its ongoing development through effective collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a stakeholder engagement strategy that supports ORUK’s objectives and promotes the adoption of data standards across the sector.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, government departments, digital and data specialists, suppliers, and wider sector partners.
- Organise and facilitate workshops, roundtables, webinars, and community events that encourage learning, collaboration, and shared practice.
- Support the communication of project progress, outcomes, and opportunities through presentations, briefings, newsletters, case studies, and online channels.
- Gather stakeholder insights, feedback, and practical examples to inform the ongoing development of the ORUK adoption model and related guidance.
- Support organisations in understanding and adopting ORUK tools, standards, and frameworks, helping them embed consistent and effective data practices.
- Represent iStandUK and ORUK at national events, conferences, and working groups, acting as an ambassador for the programme’s aims and values.
- Work closely with the ORUK project team to ensure alignment between engagement activity, technical development, and wider programme objectives.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is a natural communicator and relationship builder, confident working across the public sector and comfortable engaging with people at all levels. You will bring experience in stakeholder engagement, partnership development, or community‑focused work, ideally within digital, data, or transformation settings. You’ll be able to explain technical or data‑related concepts clearly to non‑technical audiences, and you’ll enjoy facilitating discussions, hosting events, and presenting ideas in ways that help others learn and participate. You will be someone who works well independently, can balance multiple workstreams, and is comfortable navigating complex, multistakeholder environments. An interest in data standards, data ethics, or interoperability will help you thrive in this role, as will any experience supporting organisations to adopt standards or drive digital transformation. Familiarity with initiatives like ORUK, or with work relating to cross‑sector collaboration, data improvement, or service transformation, is helpful but not essential; what matters most is your enthusiasm for helping organisations improve how they use and share data to deliver better outcomes.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to influence a nationally significant programme improving support for vulnerable people.
- Flexible, hybrid working arrangements.
- Supportive, collaborative team environment.
- Professional development opportunities in data standards, digital transformation, and cross‑sector collaboration.
Unfortunately, at this time we are not able to offer sponsorship. We are committed to developing a culture which respects individuals, appreciates difference and allows everyone regardless of background to reach their full potential.
