Tameside Council is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Home Learning Educators to join our Family Hubs team and help deliver our ambitious Best Start in Life vision. We know that parents are a child's first and most important educators, and that the quality of the home learning environment plays a vital role in children's speech, language, literacy and overall development. This role will help families create positive learning experiences that give children the skills and confidence they need to be ready for school.
As a Home Learning Educator, you will work directly with families of pre-school children, delivering targeted home visiting support, evidence-based interventions and practical guidance to strengthen parenting confidence and improve children's developmental outcomes. You will support communication and language development, literacy, school readiness and family engagement, particularly for children who may be at risk of falling behind or experiencing disadvantage.
Working as part of the Family Hubs network, you will build strong relationships with families and partner agencies, helping parents access local services and opportunities. You will deliver innovative programmes such as Small Talk, Toddler Talk and Making it REAL, while supporting children to access Family Hubs, early years provision and wider community activities. Your work will play a key role in reducing inequalities, improving school readiness and ensuring every child has the best possible start in life.
At the heart of this role is our Heart of Support Practice Approach, underpinned by the 5 C’s: Compassion, Curiosity, Collaboration, Conversation and Courage. These values are the golden thread in how we work with children, families and each other. You will champion the Heart of Support and play a pivotal role in embedding systemic practice across the service.
We are committed to safeguarding and championing the welfare of children, young people, and families. Protecting and empowering our communities is at the heart of everything we do, and we expect every member of our team to share that commitment and help us make a meaningful difference. We are committed to developing a culture which respects individuals, appreciates difference and allows everyone regardless of background to reach their full potential. We are proud to be an accredited disability confident employer. Reasonable Adjustments will be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 in relation to the Job Role Criteria.
