As Head of Public Protection, you will provide strategic leadership across a broad range of regulatory and enforcement services, including Environmental Health, Trading Standards, Licensing, Housing Enforcement and Corporate Health & Safety. You will lead service improvement, ensure statutory responsibilities are met and drive the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused services. Working closely with elected members, partners and senior leaders, you will provide expert advice and help shape the Council's strategic priorities.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for performance, budgets, governance and transformational change across the Public Protection portfolio. It represents an exciting opportunity to shape the future of Public Protection services within an ambitious authority and make a lasting impact on communities across the borough.

We are looking for an experienced leader with a strong track record of delivering regulatory, enforcement or public protection services. You will have experience of leading high-performing teams, managing budgets and driving service improvement in a complex environment. You will bring:

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and enforcement services.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience.
  • Experience of performance, budget and change management.
  • Excellent partnership and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • An understanding of governance and working within a political environment.
  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification.
