The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Officer to join the Public Protection Team at Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council.

As an Environmental Health Officer, you will be instrumental in achieving both our proactive and reactive work programmes. You will work alongside an experienced group of officers who are knowledgeable, dedicated, hardworking and ever keen to protect the public whilst exploring innovative ways of providing a sustainable regulatory service, across a wide range of services Environmental Protection and to enforce other statutory provisions and provide relevant advice.

Our ideal candidate will have completed their Environmental Health Practitioner Portfolio and be a CIEH registered Environmental Health Practitioner. You will have a thorough understanding or previous experience of working in Local Authority Pollution Control, Local Air Quality Management, Statutory Nuisance and Private Water Supplies. To succeed in this role, you will have an approachable manner, excellent communication skills and the ability to independently prioritise your workload

This role requires a committed and flexible officer to contribute to delivering the team\’s wide range of functions and the successful candidate will be expected to carry out a variety of duties in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.

About You

You must have an Environmental Health Degree/Diploma with ideally at least two years’ recent experience in Environmental Protection/Local Authority Pollution Control and believe that you can make a valued contribution to our service. You must be able to work effectively and flexibly as part of a team and to prioritise and manage personal workloads.
