The Role

Are you passionate about people, customer service, creating welcoming and safe town centres for communities to thrive? As a Market’s Ranger you will be a part of the Ashton Market team and play a key role as an ambassador of place keeping Ashton Market and Town Centre a safe, vibrant, and enjoyable destination for visitors, shoppers, traders, and businesses. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in supporting one of Tameside's most important destinations. As a visible and reassuring presence, you will help visitors make the most of their experience while supporting local businesses, Ashton Market traders and Ashton Market operations to ensure Aston remains a safe and welcoming town for visitors.

Summary of Duties:

  • Provide a professional, uniformed, and approachable presence throughout Ashton Market and the Town Centre.
  • Welcome and assist visitors, shoppers, and traders with a friendly and helpful attitude.
  • Offer directions, guidance and information about local businesses, attractions, services, and events.
  • Build positive relationships with market traders, retailers, and town centre businesses.
  • Patrol and monitor the market and surrounding areas, helping to create a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Identify and report incidents, concerns, and unusual activity to the appropriate authority.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports where required.
  • Champion safety, security, and excellent customer service.
  • Support the planning and delivery of market events and activities.
  • Act as an ambassador for Tameside Markets and Tameside Council at all times.

About You

We are looking for somebody who is:

  • A qualified SIA Door Supervisor or willing to work towards this qualification.
  • Previous experience working within the markets, events, hospitality or retail sectors would be advantageous.
