The Role

Are you passionate about making a difference for children and young people? As our Virtual School Data and Compliance Officer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring every child we support has the best chance to thrive educationally. In this key position, you will take the lead on gathering, analysing, and maintaining high-quality education data - covering attendance, attainment, suspensions, and wider outcomes. Your work will underpin the Virtual School's ability to understand performance, target support effectively, and meet important statutory duties. You’ll develop clear, insightful reports, manage data flow between schools and social care partners, and support colleagues to use our data systems confidently. Alongside this, you’ll ensure we remain compliant with GDPR, FOI, and Subject Access Requests, helping to safeguard information and uphold high standards of practice. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, has excellent attention to detail, and wants their work to have real impact on the lives of children in care and other vulnerable young people.

About You

You’re someone who brings clarity to complexity. You enjoy turning raw information into meaningful insights and take pride in accuracy, organisation, and getting things right first time. Curious by nature, you ask the right questions, spot patterns quickly, and aren’t afraid to dive into detail when it matters. You’re confident with digital tools and comfortable navigating different systems, but what really sets you apart is your ability to communicate clearly - whether you’re sharing data trends with colleagues or helping others understand how to use systems effectively. Your working style is calm, reliable, and focused. You manage your time well, stay on top of deadlines, and handle sensitive information with professionalism and care. You enjoy collaborating with others, build positive working relationships easily, and bring a thoughtful, solution-focused approach to challenges. Above all, you’re motivated by making a difference. You believe that high-quality information can change outcomes for children - and you want to be part of a team that uses data to do exactly that.
