Kinship Social Worker in Ashton-under-Lyne

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Kinship Assessment Team for a dedicated social worker who is committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and young people. As an Assessing Social Worker, you will play a vital role in securing permanent and stable family arrangements for Tameside children, helping to shape their futures and contributing to the wider support we provide for our cared-for children.

About You

You will be a qualified Social Worker with experience in assessment work and a strong foundation of practice skills. Most importantly, you will be passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children, young people and families. Motivated, committed and child-focused, you will bring energy, enthusiasm and a determination to achieve the best possible outcomes for children.

You will be professionally curious, reflective in your practice and committed to continually raising standards. We are looking for someone who embraces a strengths-based approach and is driven to help children thrive within safe, stable and loving family environments.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive, effective relationships with children, young people, carers, partner agencies and other professionals. You will be confident working collaboratively while also using your professional judgement to make informed decisions.

You will have a sound knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory requirements and the Fostering National Minimum Standards. Alongside this, you will bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality written work, including assessments for court. Your ability to gather, analyse and present information clearly will be key to your success in the role.

Professional Development Criteria

• Relevant professional qualification for the job role at Level 6 or above.
• Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in the role.
• Maintained membership of a regulated body where this is a requirement to practice in the role, where applicable.
• Professional standards practised to the highest expected level.
