The TAQA Trainer/Teacher & Skills Coach plays an important role in maintaining the quality and integrity of apprenticeship and vocational training programmes across the college. They plan and deliver a suite of TAQA qualifications, carry out internal quality assurance activities, ensure assessment decisions are fair, valid and consistent, and that delivery meets the requirements of awarding bodies and regulatory standards. They work collaboratively with students, teachers, Heads of Department and other stakeholders to promote high standards in training, learning and assessment, contributing to continuous improvement and positive learner outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver TAQA qualifications.
- Carry out internal quality assurance activities.
- Ensure assessment decisions are fair, valid and consistent.
- Ensure delivery meets awarding body and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver engaging learning experiences in the workplace, online and within college settings.
- Monitor progress, provide constructive feedback, complete assessment and verification tasks.
- Maintain high standards of quality and compliance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders both within and outside the college.
- Tailor training to meet industry and learner needs.
Qualifications
- Literacy and Numeracy Qualifications at least Level 2.
- Level 3 qualification or relevant NVQ in an FE curriculum area.
- Level 3 Assessor and Level 4 IQA qualifications.
- Ideally, a qualified teacher with a Certificate in Education / PrGCE/PGCE/PGDip/DIT or equivalent, or willingness to work towards one within 2 years of appointment.
- Evidence of current Continuous Professional Development and a thirst for learning.
- Enthusiasm, resilience, organisational skills and a people‑oriented attitude.

Employment Conditions
Employment is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Check. Posts in regulated activity will also be subject to an additional barred list check. Costs associated with these checks will be covered by the college. Students and staff are required to comply with safeguarding and child‑protective procedures, including keeping Children Safe in Education 2024 guidance which includes an online search of shortlisted candidates and short‑list checks for interview invitations.
