Position

Neonatal Sister – 24 hours per week

About the Role

Are you passionate about caring for pre‑term and vulnerable babies? Would you like to work within an Integrated Care Organisation where Community and Hospital Services have joined together to provide a seamless service to protect and care for babies, and their families, from birth throughout admission and post‑discharge?

We have a well‑established Neonatal team providing care from 27 weeks gestation. The unit capacity comprises 1 IC, 3 HD and 9 SC cots. In line with the North West Neonatal Operation Delivery Network, we provide short‑term Intensive Care for up to 48 hours. We have access to three (Tertiary) Level III Neonatal Units within Greater Manchester, fully supported by Connect North West.

We strive to continue to develop our unit and service, to meet the constantly developing local and national requirements, and therefore are looking for experienced and committed Band 6 neonatal nurses to join our fantastic team of nurses.

Responsibilities

  • To act as the shift co‑ordinator providing an experienced level of clinical and managerial leadership.
  • To provide support to the shift co‑ordinator when required.
  • To provide specialist clinical input into the neonatal team.
  • To provide day‑to‑day supervision of staff and students supporting their clinical educational needs.
  • To participate in the development of neonatal services, providing a positive role model to colleagues.
  • To always act in a manner consistent with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, carrying out his/her duties in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

You should be able to demonstrate excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills, the ability to work on your own initiative, work within and lead teams, and work well under pressure. You will also be an active mentor and have experience of teaching and assessing practice.

You will need to possess QIS, mentorship, NLS and demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development along with suitable and relevant experience at Band 5.
