About the Role
Talos is seeking a Backend Software Engineering Intern to join our Trading team for the Summer 2026. This intern will work on a critical project related to our high-performance trading systems, contributing to tools that support trading decision-making and performance evaluation. Success in this role will involve designing and building components that enhance our algorithmic capabilities while adding new features to existing infrastructure.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collaborate with the Trading team to define project scope, requirements, and milestones
- Prepare design documentation and actively participate in architectural discussions with team members
- Build features in Go to enhance Talos's Order Management System (OMS), which is responsible for making all trading related decisions for orders submitted into Talos to ensure best execution
- Add analytics and metrics to measure impact of your changes while incorporating feedback and iterating based on team input
- Demonstrate project progress through regular demos
Qualifications:
- Class of 2027 pursuing a degree in Computer Science or related field
- Proficiency in at least one compiled language (e.g., Go, C++, Java)
- At least one previous internship involving working on backend systems in a production environment, preferably in a user-facing context
- Knowledge of relational databases (e.g Postgres)
- Past experience with trading systems is a plus
- Detail-oriented, self-driven, analytical, and enthusiastic about working on impactful projects
- Strong communication skills, with an ability to convey technical concepts clearly
- Ability to work autonomously as well as a part of a collaborative team environment
- Energetic, creative, and a self-starter who can manage tasks autonomously
