THE ROLE
As a Data Engineer at Talon Outdoor, you will design, build and maintain data solutions within the Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric ecosystem. Your primary responsibility is to develop reliable, scalable and well-structured data pipelines that support reporting, analytics and operational decision-making across the business. You will work as part of the Technology team to ensure data is accurate, accessible and efficiently processed, enabling teams such as Finance, Operations and Commercial to make informed decisions.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 3–5 years’ experience in a Data Engineering or similar role.
- Strong SQL skills, including query optimisation, debugging and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory and Databricks (PySpark desirable).
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric or Synapse environments.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts (e.g. star schema, fact/dimension tables).
- Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
- Familiarity with Git and basic CI/CD deployment practices.
- Experience supporting analytical or reporting solutions (e.g. Power BI).
- Ability to translate business requirements into clear technical solutions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with at least one scripting or programming language (e.g. Python).
OUR TEAM
IT Operations is a core function within the Talon Group, ensuring the smooth performance of business and technology platforms across the organisation. The team supports 400+ internal users as well as external agencies and media owners who rely on Talon systems. We support key platforms including finance systems such as NetSuite, reporting environments and core business applications. The team is responsible for maintaining stable, efficient and secure systems while continuously improving data capabilities that drive business insight and operational efficiency.
