The Opportunity: Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Ocean & Air Imports Operator to join their South Manchester branch. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in international freight forwarding who enjoys managing shipments from start to finish while delivering exceptional customer service. You'll become part of a close-knit, high-performing team where your contribution is recognised and where genuine career progression is encouraged.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage both ocean and air import shipments from origin through to final delivery.
- Liaise daily with overseas offices, shipping lines, airlines, hauliers, customs brokers, and customers.
- Arrange customs clearance and ensure compliance with HMRC and all import regulations.
- Monitor shipments proactively, resolving any operational issues efficiently.
- Prepare and process import documentation accurately.
- Coordinate deliveries and communicate shipment updates to customers.
- Complete job costing, invoicing, and maintain accurate operational records.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and overseas partners.
- Deliver excellent customer service while ensuring operational efficiency.
The Right Candidate:
- Previous experience within Ocean and/or Air Imports in a freight forwarding environment.
- Strong understanding of import documentation and customs procedures.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- Experience using freight forwarding software and Microsoft Office.
- A positive attitude and a desire to contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Package:
- Salary up to £40,000, depending on experience.
