HGV Class 1 Shunter Driver

Location: Peterborough

Temp to permanent position. Permanent pay rates from £20ph.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 8 hour shifts. Manual work involved.

Pay Rate: £18.25 - £19.00 per hour (DOE).

Tallgrass Recruitment are recruiting HGV Class 1 Shunter Drivers on behalf of a leading client within the food production industry based in Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity for drivers looking for ongoing, long-term work with fixed shift patterns and immediate starts available.

Available Shifts:

  • 14:00 - 22:00
  • 22:00 - 06:00

The Role:

  • Shunting Class 1 vehicles and trailers around a busy customer site
  • Moving trailers safely between loading bays and designated parking areas
  • Liaising with warehouse and transport teams to ensure smooth site operations
  • Completing vehicle checks and reporting any defects
  • Adhering to all site health and safety procedures
  • Maintaining a professional and safety-focused approach at all times

Please note that this role involves manual duties in addition to shunting responsibilities and applicants must be comfortable carrying out physical work when required.

Requirements:

  • Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) Licence
  • Valid CPC Qualification
  • Digital Tachograph Card
  • Previous Class 1 driving experience
  • Previous shunting experience preferred but not essential
  • Maximum of 6 penalty points
  • Good understanding of site safety procedures and vehicle movements
