An established and growing freight-forwarding business is looking for an experienced Ocean Import Operator to join its team in Dagenham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least two years’ ocean-import experience who can manage shipments confidently from initial booking through to final delivery. Previous experience using CargoWise is essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage ocean-import shipments from booking through to final delivery
- Handle both FCL and LCL consignments
- Liaise with customers, shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers and internal departments
- Monitor vessel schedules, arrivals and shipment milestones
- Provide customers with regular and proactive shipment updates
- Arrange customs-clearance instructions and supporting documentation
- Coordinate container collections and final deliveries
- Manage Bills of Lading, arrival notices and import documentation
- Obtain rates and prepare customer quotations
- Process supplier invoices and raise customer invoices
- Resolve delays, documentation issues and operational queries
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date shipment records within CargoWise
- Deliver a consistently high level of customer service
Essential Requirements
- A minimum of two years’ ocean-import experience within freight forwarding
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end ocean-import operations
- Previous experience handling FCL and LCL shipments
- Confident using CargoWise
- Excellent customer-service and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
- Able to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team
