We are seeking an experienced and motivated Air & Ocean Freight Supervisor to join our operations team in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for a freight forwarding professional looking to step into a leadership role within a growing and dynamic logistics business.
You will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the air and ocean import/export team, ensuring shipments are handled efficiently, compliantly, and to the highest standards of customer service. Key Responsibilities- Supervise the daily operations of Air and Ocean Import & Export shipments.
- Support and guide the operations team to ensure shipments are processed efficiently and accurately.
- Coordinate with airlines, shipping lines, hauliers, and overseas agents to ensure smooth movement of freight.
- Ensure all shipments comply with customs regulations, documentation requirements, and industry standards.
- Manage shipment documentation including HAWB/MAWB, Bills of Lading, customs entries, and commercial paperwork.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve operational issues.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
- Assist with team training, development, and performance management.
- Ensure KPIs and service levels are consistently achieved.
- Support management with operational reporting and process improvements.
- Proven experience in freight forwarding operations, ideally covering both air and ocean imports/exports.
- Previous team leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of customs procedures and freight documentation.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
