The Senior Commercial Analyst role will play a big contribution in executing our ‘Greater with Data’ strategy.
It is a highly visible role with responsibility for maintaining strong analytical business partnerships across our Consumer teams.
You will also play a role in helping to create our data‑first culture which champions the power of insight.
Successful analytical business partnering will be achieved through requirements gathering, the provision of agile analytics and providing consultancy on what the art of the possible is with our data and analytics capability.
This will require the Senior Insight Analyst to be closely aligned with the strategic direction of specific domains and to live and breathe their specific goals and objectives.
Finally, the post holder’s ability to influence key stakeholders – up to and including Directors in the main – within both the Consumer and Technology business‑facing organisations will be crucial.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimises the use of data and analytics to deliver value: creating insights into customer acquisition and lifecycle management, churn prediction and reduction, customer experience transformation, and cost to serve optimisation.
- Works in partnership with the Data Platforms team to develop and implement simple tools to enable commercial and operational teams to ‘self‑serve’.
- Acts as a catalyst for building data and insight capability across the wider group, working cross‑functionally.
- Drives cultural change at Talk Talk, raising awareness of the power of data and insight, contributing to a vision that people can get behind and feel excited about.
- Acts as a sounding board and expert advisor to senior leaders as they tackle complex business problems.
- Proactively identifies value creation opportunities across the organisation, including developing business cases when required.
- Prioritises problems that have the most value to the organisation using strong commercial acumen.
- Any other duties appropriate to the post, grade and level of responsibility for which the holder has the necessary experience and/or training.
- Generates energy, pride and momentum across the team to raise our game to world class.
- Empowers and partners with key decision makers to ensure timely, comprehensive and insightful information that has business impact; provides challenge where appropriate.
What do I need to be successful in this role?
- A track record of collaborating with senior leaders on strategic initiatives.
- A strong understanding of advanced current and emerging technologies that can create a source of competitive advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills (both oral and written), with an ability to generate insights across multiple sources of data.
- Advanced in SQL and other programming experience; possible experience of Digital Analytics capability (GA360, Adobe, etc.) as well as Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, GCP) and Power BI.
Python/R also advantageous alongside some knowledge of open‑source data.
- An open‑minded, flexible and positive attitude toward new challenges, with a willingness to embrace new technologies and business change.
- Strong operational delivery track record, motivated to implement/deliver on time to quality standards and, critically, build new efficient processes at pace.
- Comprehensive knowledge, training and experience in data analysis, reporting and good awareness of data warehousing, physical and logical data modelling, statistical analysis tools, data governance and master data management.
- Commercially aware and capable of interpreting business needs and requirements in a compelling and understandable way to stakeholders.
- Experience of working with complex customer journeys involving several touch points.
- Ability to scale large data sets and extract relevant insights in a timely manner.
