Role Purpose
A new role to lead our reshaped communications & stakeholder engagement team focused on delivering a unified narrative across all TalkTalk's touch points, from colleagues to media to government to regulators. Reporting to the Chief Corporate Affairs & Marketing Officer, the role-holder will have a unique chance to help drive the ongoing repositioning of the business as we continue our transformation journey.
Main Responsibilities
- Drive a unified communications & stakeholder engagement team focused on communicating with all our key stakeholders to protect and promote our business.
- Lead on external communications with media, suppliers and partners, including as appropriate financial communications for TalkTalk Group.
- Lead on colleague communications, working closely with TalkTalk's Chief People Officer and their team.
- Lead on engagement with our regulatory stakeholders, within Ofcom and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, focused on delivering a strong understanding of the unique nature of our business.
- Advise the Executive Committee on key regulatory and policy developments, and appropriate courses of action where necessary, as well as overseeing statutory Information requests, policy campaigns and any related regulatory and policy conversations.
- Manage a cross-company sprint to de-jargon TalkTalk, working closely with the Head of Customer Communications & Marketing on this.
- Responsible, with the Head of Brand & Digital Marketing, for managing PR strategy and ensuring it fits to our overall communications strategy.
- Work closely with the Head of Culture, Learning & Engagement on delivering a unified colleague engagement plan aligned with a new colleague communication strategy focused on uniting our in-house and extended workforce.
- Deputise for the Director of Corporate Affairs & Marketing as appropriate, including assistance in board reporting as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Knowledge: A well-rounded communications and engagement leader who can distil complex concepts and arguments into bite-sized chunks. Working knowledge of the regulatory framework within which TalkTalk operates is highly desirable. Telecoms sector knowledge is desirable but not essential.
- Skills: A talented leader who is used to managing teams and stakeholders across the board. A natural communicator who can deliver major projects with the right guidance and understands the importance of the use of data in communication. Strong commercial acumen a plus. The ability to give actionable advice will be crucial to this role.
- Experience: Experience of working alongside senior executives is highly desirable. A communicator with proven experience either in-house or as a consultant, who is comfortable juggling different stakeholders at the same time.
