The Role
The Data Engineer role develops and maintains trusted, high-quality data pipelines, warehouse structures and analytics-ready datasets to support reporting, insights, decision-making and AI initiatives across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to ingest, cleanse, transform, and curate data from multiple source systems.
- Build and optimise data warehouse structures that support reporting, insights, and AI use cases.
- Develop scalable data solutions using Databricks, SQL, Python, and Azure data technologies.
- Create and maintain high-quality datasets, semantic models, and data products for Power BI reporting and self-service analytics.
- Implement data quality controls, monitoring, and validation processes to improve trust and confidence in organisational data.
- Support the delivery of AI-ready data by ensuring data is accessible, secure, governed, and fit for purpose.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and technology teams to understand requirements and deliver data solutions that drive value.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
Skills and experience we are looking for
- Strong SQL development skills and experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks for data engineering and transformation workloads.
- Proficiency in Python for data cleansing, transformation, automation, and analytics workflows.
- Experience designing and supporting enterprise data warehouse solutions.
- Experience developing and optimising Power BI datasets, semantic models, and reporting solutions.
- Strong understanding of data quality, governance, and data management principles.
- Experience working with Azure data technologies and cloud-based data platforms.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable data solutions.
