Talking Numbers Accountancy & Bookkeeping are seeking a Part-time Bookkeeper to join our team. The successful candidate will have the following duties:
- Maintaining client bookkeeping records and preparing VAT returns to be checked by an accountant, using Xero, Quickbooks and FreeAgent
- Preparing and submitting MTD for Income Tax quarterly updates (training will be provided)
- Bringing bookkeeping records to trial balance, to allow our accountants to prepare clients' year-end accounts and tax returns
- Running weekly and monthly payroll for clients, processing new starters, leavers, tax code notices and uploading documents to our client portal
You should also be comfortable:
- Being the first point of contact for new and existing clients
- Answering the telephone and responding to email enquiries
- Assisting clients with queries and arranging meetings with other members of the team
- Building good relationships with clients, by making regular calls to check-in with them
- Guiding clients through the onboarding process, assisting with AML compliance and identity verification checks
- Any other tasks to assist with the smooth running of the practice.
Experience
The successful candidate will have experience in an office environment (preferably in an accounting practice). We would like someone with experience in:
- Dealing with clients and building excellent relationships
- Using accounting and bookkeeping software such as Xero, Quickbooks and FreeAgent
- Running weekly and monthly payrolls
- Preparing accounts to trial balance
- Preparing VAT returns
The ideal candidate will be skilled in organisation and time-management, with an excellent telephone manner.
Specifics
This is initially a part-time, 100% office-based role, and you must be able to commute to our Bishopbriggs office. The position will be for 24 hours per week, over 3 days to include a Monday, however this can be flexible for the right candidate. There is scope for this role to expand over time as we are a growing practice. This role is not suitable for a graduate looking to progress to ICAS, ACCA etc.
