We are seeking an experienced Plater / Welder and Fabricator to join a busy and skilled engineering team. This hands-on role will involve working from detailed fabrication drawings to produce high-quality structural steel components for projects across construction, manufacturing, and heavy industry sectors.

To be considered for the role, you’ll require the following essentials:

Proven experience as a Plater / Welder and Fabricator within a structural steel or heavy fabrication environment
Proficient in MIG welding; TIG/MMA skills advantageous
Competent in reading and interpreting detailed technical drawings
Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and tolerances
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Good attention to detail and commitment to quality
Physically fit and able to handle heavy materials safely
Within this position, you’ll also be:

Read and interpret complex engineering and fabrication drawings accurately
Mark out, cut, drill, and prepare steel sections ready for fabrication
Plate heavy steel components ensuring precise alignment and tolerances
Perform high-quality MIG welding (TIG and MMA welding experience an advantage)
Use a variety of tools and machinery including grinders, guillotines, and presses
Check finished work against specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance
Work to production deadlines while maintaining quality standards
Follow all health and safety procedures, including PPE use and safe workshop practices
Desirable Skills of the Plater / Welder and Fabricator role:

Experience working with large-scale construction or industrial steel projects
Knowledge of welding codes and quality standards
Overhead crane operation and forklift licence (training can be provided)
Ability to carry out basic welding repairs and modifications on-site when required
