Our client is looking for an enthusiastic, organised and proactive Business Support Officer to join their team. This is a varied and rewarding role, providing essential support across finance, payroll, facilities, administration and people management. You'll play an important part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the organisation, working closely with senior managers, colleagues, suppliers and external contractors.

The role would suit someone who enjoys variety, is confident working independently and can manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion. You'll need to be highly organised, comfortable managing multiple priorities and confident taking the initiative in a busy working environment.

To be considered for the role, you’ll require the following essentials:

  • Previous experience in a business support, administration, finance or operations role
  • Experience using accounting systems, ideally Xero
  • Previous experience with banking, petty cash, purchase and sales ledger processes
  • Experience of payroll administration
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The confidence to deal professionally with challenging or sensitive situations
  • The ability to handle confidential information appropriately
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing requirements
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to use your own initiative
  • Previous experience within a customer-focused environment

Within this position, you’ll also be:

  • Maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices and completing reconciliations
  • Managing income and expenditure records and assisting with financial reporting
  • Processing payroll and associated administrative requirements
  • Supporting claims and other financial processes as required
  • Coordinating premises and facilities management, including maintenance, servicing and equipment testing
  • Liaising with suppliers, contractors and service providers to ensure work is completed on time
  • Maintaining accurate facilities, compliance and maintenance records
  • Supporting health and safety and operational compliance requirements
  • Providing day-to-day line management and support to the administration team, including recruitment, induction and ongoing development
  • Attending meetings, preparing agendas and producing accurate minutes
  • Providing management information, data and reporting relating to administrative systems
  • Working closely with senior managers and colleagues to support the operational needs of the organisation
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professional standards when dealing with sensitive information
  • Supporting staff rotas and scheduling when required

Hours and Salary: 30 hours over 5 days per week (core office hours) £28,392 per annum, pro-rata 23 days holiday plus Bank Excellent pension.
