Role

We are looking for an experienced site manager with strong leadership skills. The role will be site based, with critical responsibility for the management and success of the project, including customer relations, health and safety, quality, environmental, programme and the cost/value of operations.

Duties

  • Providing leadership and energy
  • Controlling prelims and project budgets
  • Ensuring construction works run to strict programme
  • Managing pre‑construction activities
  • Maintaining strict quality control procedures
  • Procurement and management of the supply chain
  • Managing change – client, company and supply chain
  • Leading regular site meetings with all interested parties
  • Conducting regular site safety checks
  • Being proactive in identification and resolution of problems
  • Maintaining effective long‑term relationships with the customer and their representatives / advisors
  • Ensuring the project team complies with the company’s business management system
  • Reviewing methods of working, alternative materials etc. to maximise commercial profitability
  • Seeking and developing ongoing continuous improvement
  • Providing aftercare services to the customer
  • Implementing and maintaining company policies for sustainability, health and safety, quality, environmental, training and development, and acting as an exemplar of the company culture and values
  • Coaching and motivating subordinates
  • Supporting and being familiar with own role and responsibility in respect of business continuity planning, ensuring team members are aware of the plans and communicating the same
  • Any other duties relevant to the role

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the building / construction sector
  • Previous employment as a site manager, construction manager, build manager or similar role
  • Previous new‑build project experience ideally
  • Previous experience ideally in building sector projects such as commercial, mixed use, residential, apartment blocks, student accommodation, hotels, extra‑care housing, MOJ, industrial, retail, education or healthcare
  • Previous main contractor employment is essential
