We are seeking, on behalf of our client, a highly skilled Software Solutions Architect to lead the design and development of advanced software solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in large-scale EU-funded R&D projects, translating business requirements into robust, scalable, and future-proof architectures that address complex societal, environmental, and industrial challenges.

This role requires a solid background in software development and architecture design (minimum 7 years), with proven expertise in multi-tier/layer architectures and a track record of delivering enterprise-grade, innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead system architecture design, translating business requirements into logical architectures aligned with project objectives and technical frameworks.
  • Define integration strategies, infrastructure design, and cloud-based solutions that are scalable and research-ready.
  • Provide technical leadership during implementation, mentoring development teams and ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, tools, and platforms to meet project needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Europe (academic, industrial, and governmental).
  • Oversee implementation methodology and deployment, ensuring alignment with the broader technical vision.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and deliverables for EU funding agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and best practices in software architecture.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related field (PhD a plus).
  • 7+ years of experience in software development and solution architecture.
  • Proven track record in enterprise-level architecture, from concept to deployment.
  • Extensive expertise in microservices, distributed systems, and cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft technologies (.NET, Azure, related frameworks).
  • Solid knowledge of databases (relational DBMS and NoSQL).
  • Hands-on experience with containerization (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Familiarity with message brokers and asynchronous communication.
  • Strong understanding of SOA, event-driven, and interoperability architectures.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (other European languages a plus).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect) are highly desirable.
