We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer with strong experience in AWS cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and platform automation to join our client’s on-site team in London on a 6-month contract.
This engagement focuses on modernising an enterprise cloud platform by migrating existing workloads to Amazon EKS, standardising Infrastructure as Code, implementing Git Ops practices, and improving platform reliability.
The successful contractor will work closely with Platform Engineers, Software Engineers, and Security teams to deliver a production‑ready cloud platform that will remain the foundation of the client’s engineering environment.
- Project Objectives
- Deliver a production-ready Kubernetes platform on AWS
- Standardise Infrastructure as Code across all environments
- Build enterprise CI/CD pipelines and Git Ops workflows
- Improve platform observability and operational resilience
- Reduce deployment time through automation
- Deliver complete operational documentation and knowledge transfer
- What You’ll Do
- AWS Platform Engineering
- Design, build and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure supporting production applications
- Configure Amazon EKS clusters for highly available workloads
- Design AWS networking including VPCs, Private/Public Subnets, Route 53, NAT Gateways, Application Load Balancers and IAM policies
- Implement Auto Scaling strategies and optimise cloud resource utilisation
- Support secure multi-account AWS environments following AWS Well-Architected Framework principles
- Kubernetes & Container Platform
- Deploy and administer production Kubernetes clusters on Amazon EKS
- Manage namespaces, RBAC, Network Policies, Ingress Controllers and Storage Classes
- Build and maintain Helm charts for application deployments
- Optimise cluster performance and workload scheduling
- Support container lifecycle management using Docker
- Infrastructure Automation
- Develop reusable Terraform modules for infrastructure provisioning
- Build Git Ops deployment workflows using Argo CD
- Automate provisioning of cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes resources
- Maintain infrastructure consistency across development, staging and production environments
- CI/CD & Release Engineering
- Build enterprise CI/CD pipelines using Git Hub Actions
- Automate build, testing, security scanning and deployments
- Implement deployment strategies including Canary and Blue/Green releases
- Improve software delivery through automation and standardisation
- Monitoring & Reliability
- Implement monitoring using Amazon Cloud Watch, Prometheus and Grafana
- Configure centralized logging using the ELK Stack
- Define SLIs, SLOs and operational dashboards
- Support incident response and root cause analysis
