We are looking for a Senior Backend Platform Engineer with strong experience in scalable backend systems and API architecture to join our client’s on-site team in London. This role focuses on building and scaling the core backend infrastructure that powers digital learning platforms, student management systems, and real-time educational services. You will work closely with product, frontend, and data teams to deliver secure, high-performance systems supporting large-scale education environments.

### **What You’ll Do**

  • Design and build scalable backend services supporting modern EdTech platforms
  • Develop and maintain APIs powering learning management systems, student workflows, and assessment tools
  • Build microservices handling authentication, course delivery, progress tracking, and analytics
  • Optimise database performance and ensure high availability for large educational datasets
  • Integrate third-party educational tools and LMS platforms via REST APIs and webhooks
  • Deploy and monitor backend services on cloud infrastructure such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure
  • Implement logging, monitoring, and reliability best practices
  • Collaborate on system architecture, scalability planning, and security design
