We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering specialist that delivers massive-scale mechanical solutions for complex industrial challenges. The company is a powerhouse in the bulk material handling sector, designing and installing robust systems that move the world’s most essential resources.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of the design process for large-scale mechanical handling projects. You will work on everything from initial concept and structural calculations to detailed 3D modeling and final fabrication drawings. Your designs will be integrated into complex environments where reliability, safety, and durability are paramount. This is a role for an engineer who enjoys "heavy" engineering—think massive conveyors, loading systems, and automated material flow.
Key Responsibilities:- Produce innovative mechanical designs for large-scale bulk material handling solutions.
- Utilize 3D CAD (SolidWorks/Inventor) to create detailed models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
- Perform structural and mechanical calculations (stress, strain, torque, and loading) to ensure equipment integrity.
- Manage the full design lifecycle, providing technical support from the bid stage through to installation and commissioning.
- Ensure all designs meet rigorous safety standards and industry-specific regulations.
- Experience: A proven track record in mechanical design within a "heavy" engineering environment (e.g., bulk handling, mining, or bespoke moving structures like bespoke cranes).
- Technical Skill: Proficiency in 3D CAD and a strong grasp of fundamental engineering principles (BS 8888, Geometrical Tolerancing, etc.).
- Problem Solvers: Someone who thrives on bespoke projects where there is no "off-the-shelf" solution.
- Communication: The ability to explain complex technical concepts to clients, fabrication teams, and project stakeholders.
- Education: A degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Why Join Us? This is an opportunity to work on projects of significant scale and complexity. You will be part of a group that combines world-class hydraulic expertise, electrical engineering, with heavy-duty mechanical engineering. We offer a technical challenge that few other firms can match, alongside a commitment to professional development and career progression.
