Are you a mechanical / hydraulic engineer with a commercial edge and a flair for developing tailored proposals from vague client requirements? We’re working with a rapidly growing engineering firm that delivers complex, high-value turnkey M&E solutions across a range of UK sectors and they’re expanding their Pre-Contracts team.
You’ll play a crucial role in winning new business by turning client challenges into actionable, costed, and innovative engineering solutions.
The Opportunity:
You’ll work closely with internal engineering teams, project managers, clients, and suppliers to help coordinate solutions, price them, and produce detailed technical proposals. With regular site visits across the UK, no two days will be the same. From water to infrastructure and manufacturing, the project diversity is genuinely exciting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and write detailed technical and commercial proposals for M&E solutions
- Engage with clients to understand operational needs, budgets, and technical challenges
- Source and assess supplier and subcontractor quotes
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate technical input
- Assess risks and assist in programme planning and tender returns
- Maintain CRM data and project pipelines
What We’re Looking For:
- Ability to spec a job (e.g. size of gear box or exploring hydraulic actuator options) from really vague client requirements
- Confident communicator with solid relationship-building skills
- A self-starter who thrives in a team environment and is health and safety conscious
