We are partnering with a bespoke machine builder to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer for their Projects department. Joining the technical team, you will focus on product development, validating new designs through prototyping, and driving improvements in quality and efficiency. You will communicate effectively across departments and disciplines, working closely with the shop floor team to commission and fault find new equipment. You will support end customers, junior engineers, and the installation team, operating safely within company procedures and occasionally conducting site visits.
What are we ideally after?
- Experience: Capable of using CAD software (ideally EPLAN) to create electrical schematics.
- Capabilities: Able to manage your own workload in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work from heights for occasional site visits.
- Desirable: Experience working to National/European Standards (e.g., BS EN 60204, UL508), experience working with VFDs or similar material handling environments, and knowledge of Functional Safety.
- Communication: Confident discussing projects with various stakeholders and comfortable interacting across the business.
The Role
- Specify electrical components, wiring, and cabling.
- Undertake control panel design and create parameter sets for variable frequency drives.
- Create and maintain electrical drawings and documentation.
- Work with the shop floor team to commission and fault find new equipment.
- Support junior engineers, the installation team, and end customers.
- Contribute to product development and validate new designs through prototyping.
- Drive improvements in quality and efficiency within the technical department.
- Work strictly within company quality and safety procedures.
Package
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + wider package
Support: Great opportunities for development (e.g. within software, safety or expanding your VFD expertise)
Travel: Occasional site visits required, which will involve working from heights.
