Job Description & Scope
We are partnering with a dynamic SME systems integrator to recruit a System Engineer / Senior System Engineer. This company provides bespoke hardware engineering, software development, and data science services for a wide range of automated data acquisition, test, measurement, control, and IIoT applications.
Joining a passionate, collaborative team of developers, systems architects, and engineers, you will deliver full lifecycle projects. The entry point for this role will depend on your technical knowledge and proven capabilities.
You will help customers across diverse industries including automotive, academia, energy, and aerospace. The work will involve delivering everything from small data acquisition systems to the commissioning of complex control systems.
Key Requirements Knowledge.
Degree in engineering (Electrical/Electronic, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Computer Science, or equivalent). Strong knowledge of instrumentation, control, and industrial automation.
Experience.
Demonstrable experience in measurement and instrumentation design, requirements capture, and writing technical proposals. PLC or NI instrumentation and control panel experience is essential.
Capabilities.
A results-focused, action-oriented mentality with strong problem-solving skills to analyse challenges methodically and think creatively.
Must be able to multitask and prioritise effectively.
Desirable.
Experience with mainstream PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley), object-oriented principles, text-based languages (Python, Java, C, C++), NI hardware/software (LabVIEW, cRIO, PXI, DAQmx), and drawing system-level diagrams in EPlan.
Communication. Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills to deal effectively with customers and deliver successful project outcomes.
The Role

  • Manage full lifecycle project delivery as part of a team, with architecture design and project management scaling based on your experience.
  • Programme memory and speed-efficient data acquisition and control applications, and develop intuitive graphical user interfaces.
  • Select the correct measurement hardware for a given application based on customer specifications.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and provide effective solutions for complex systems involving both software and hardware.
  • Undertake the on-site installation and commissioning of hardware and software systems.
  • Work with the business development team to create technical solutions, provide project costings, and respond to RFQs.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation in line with quality assurance systems, including specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
  • Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations to customers, colleagues, and partners.

Package

  • Salary. £45,000 £60,000 dependent on experience
  • Holiday. 23 days annual leave, rising to 24 after 5 years service, plus an optional annual leave buy-back scheme.
