About the Role

Field Service Technician

We are seeking a Field Service Technician to join our team. This position requires travel up to 70% of the time and involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer and hardware components on large commercial trucks.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, energetic, customer-focused, and eager to learn and grow. An aptitude for computer hardware, technology, and mechanical systems is essential. Strong troubleshooting ability, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail are key to success in this role.

Position Overview

This role is part of a distributed team operating across North America and the UK, serving both municipal and private fleet services. You will be contributing to an essential and growing industry that values efficiency, safety, sustainability, and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Install computer and hardware components on large commercial trucks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues promptly and professionally.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Technical Support Team.
  • Assist with customer shipments, including light in-house assembly, hardware configuration, unit testing, data logging, and packing/shipping.
  • Process return material authorizations (RMAs).
  • Maintain accurate records and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Perform unit repairs, both hardware and software, and clearly communicate issues/bugs to development engineers.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic tools, principles, and procedures for installing computer systems in heavy-duty vehicles (preferred).
  • Solid track record of high-quality electronics installations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with both computer hardware and software.
  • High level of personal motivation, initiative, and flexibility.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with peers, internal departments, and external customers.

Ideally You Will Have

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Tech-savviness and an ability to adapt to new tools quickly.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, multi-task, and manage time efficiently.
  • Experience with CRM systems (ideally Salesforce).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft and Google Office Suites.
  • Hands-on, team-oriented approach with a willingness to β€œroll up your sleeves.”
