CK Group are recruiting for a Senior Technologist – Optical Engineer, to join a global materials manufacturing company, based near Wigan, on a full time, permanent basis.
The Company: Our client is a world-renowned high-performance glass and glazing solutions. They now have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technologist and are offering a competitive salary of up to £55,000 depending on experience.

Location: The Senior Technologist position will be based at the company's site near Wigan, easily commutable by road from Merseyside including Liverpool, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale and Manchester. Please note a full UK driving licence and car ownership is required due to the company's location.
Your main duties will be:
- Creating and enhancing automatic inspection systems from concept through to implementation.
- Providing novel and innovative solutions to complex inspection problems.
- Working with many packages from legacy systems through to high level programming languages.
- Partnering with R&D and production teams to identify and deliver instruments and process improvements safely and effectively.
- Providing both on-site and remote technical support, while upgrading and maintaining existing systems.
Your Background: The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:
- Degree in a STEM subject.
- Minimum of 5 years' practical experience of inline and offline inspection systems and their practical applications.
- Experience of industrial metrology and precision measurement techniques.
- Experience of software development, including mathematical algorithm design, image processing, C#, C++, or other programming languages.
- Full UK Driving licence and access to your own transport.
It is essential that applicants hold entitlement to work in the UK.
