Talentmark are recruiting for a Research Scientist to join a global pharmaceutical company on a contract basis initially for 12 months. This role is site based in Slough.

Company: Our client is a global biopharmaceutical company focused on creating value for people living with severe diseases in immunology and neurology now and into the future.

Salary: From £22.40 per hour PAYE or £30.81 per hour Umbrella

Research Scientist Role:

  • Plan and carry out lab studies to develop and improve upstream biologics processes.
  • Use Design of Experiments (DoE) methods to test and fine-tune new processes.
  • Run mammalian cell culture work using shake flasks, Ambr systems and small-scale bioreactors.
  • Support scale-up work, troubleshooting and moving processes into manufacturing.
  • Analyse results and write clear reports, protocols and presentations for the team.
  • Work closely with other departments and keep accurate lab records in line with GMP and quality standards.

Your Background:

  • A relevant science degree (e.g. biotechnology, biochemical engineering, molecular or cell biology) or a BSc with relevant industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, ideally CHO cells, for producing protein-based medicines.
  • Experience using Ambr systems or lab-scale bioreactors.
  • Good understanding of scale-up principles and using data or statistics to assess processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and awareness of GMP and data integrity requirements.
