Talentmark are recruiting for a Senior Scientist, Compound Screening to join a clinical stage oncology biotechnology company at their site based in West London on a permanent basis.

The Company: Our client is developing novel tumour microenvironment targeted therapeutics. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to bringing novel cancer treatments to patients.

Location: This Senior Scientist, Compound Screening role is located in West London.

Senior Scientist, Compound Screening Role: You will help to drive early stage discovery programs and will assume responsibility and be accountable for the efficient and timely delivery of cell-based screening data to support drug discovery programs for oncology therapeutics. This is a lab-based role with management of junior team member(s).

Your main duties will be to:

  • Weekly, high throughput plate-based assays to screen compounds in cell-based assays to support candidate selection
  • Data analysis and data quality control: analyse, interpret and save data to databases and electronic lab notebooks; adherence to standard operating procedures
  • Effectively present results and conclusions at project meetings to colleagues and senior management
  • Work in a fast-paced, team environment with tight deadlines
  • Work effectively in a small team with cross-functional team members
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety guidelines and quality standards

Your Background:

Essential:

  • BSc, MSc or PhD in a life sciences subject with additional biotech or pharmaceutical laboratory experience post qualification
  • Industry drug discovery experience
  • Experienced in high throughput plate-based assays to screen compounds in cell-based assays
  • Data analysis and data quality control
  • Protocol optimisation and troubleshooting
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Desirable:

  • Line management experience
  • Experience in cell-based models and co-culture assays
  • Cell biology and other basic molecular techniques eg, western blotting, ELISA, cytometry etc
