Senior Java Engineer - Docker and Financial Services

Overview

Senior Java Backend Engineer (FinTech) – Permanent – Circa £100k base – Hybrid – 2 days in London

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Backend Engineer to build and scale our Atlas platform. You will spend 80% of your time coding production-grade services that handle real-money transactions and 20% shaping technical design and engineering standards.

The Role

• Build: Develop Java-based microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Scale: Use Docker to containerize and deploy scalable services within an AWS ecosystem.
• Design: Translate architectural visions into working distributed systems with a focus on transaction integrity and audit trails.
• Lead: Raise the bar through code reviews, mentorship, and establishing best practices.

Core Requirements

• Java Mastery: 5+ years of experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Containerization: Proven experience with Docker and containerized microservices.
• Financial Services: Deep understanding of fintech requirements (security, regulatory compliance, and high-stakes data processing).
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Strong AWS experience (Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, EventBridge) and CI/CD automation.
• Systems Thinking: Expertise in SQL/NoSQL optimization and distributed system resilience.
