An experienced Data Migration Lead is required to oversee data migration governance for a large-scale Salesforce transformation programme delivered across multiple waves by a Systems Integrator (SI). This role is responsible for providing strategic oversight of migration scope, extraction readiness, test data provision, quality assurance, cutover readiness, and migration acceptance. The position acts as the key authority for migration governance and operational data readiness throughout the programme lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Migration Strategy & Governance
- Define and maintain the overall Salesforce data migration strategy.
- Establish migration governance, sequencing, controls, and acceptance criteria.
- Manage migration scope across multiple delivery waves.
- Provide migration readiness and completion sign-off.
- Data Identification & Test Data Management
- Lead identification of in-scope datasets and source systems.
- Govern extraction readiness and data handover activities.
- Ensure provision of representative and compliant test data for non-production environments.
- Coordinate validation of extracted datasets with business and data stakeholders.
- SI Oversight & Delivery Assurance
- Review and challenge migration artefacts produced by the Systems Integrator, including:
- Mapping specifications
- Transformation logic
- Load sequencing
- Validation and reconciliation approaches
- Cutover and rollback plans
- Ensure migration activities align to operational and business requirements.
- Define migration data quality and acceptance standards.
- Oversee validation and reconciliation activities across migration cycles.
- Ensure compliant handling and anonymisation of sensitive data in non-production environments.
- Govern migration sign-off and acceptance processes.
- Manage migration readiness for deployment and cutover activities.
- Oversee data freeze, extraction timing, sequencing, reconciliation, and assurance activities.
- Support hypercare and remediation management following go-live.
- Own migration-related risks, issues, and governance reporting.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all migration-related matters.
- Ensure migration decisions, approvals, and dependencies are documented and traceable.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience leading Salesforce data migration within large transformation programmes.
- Strong understanding of Salesforce data models, including Field Service or comparable operational platforms.
- Experience overseeing SI-led migration delivery.
- Strong governance, data quality, and cutover management capability.
- Ability to engage and influence senior business and technical stakeholders.
Desirable Experience
- Previous hands-on ETL or migration delivery experience.
- Experience working within phased or wave-based delivery models.
- Understanding of data protection, compliance, and anonymisation practices.
