A fast-growing outsourced finance function is looking for a proactive and technically strong Finance Manager to take ownership of a varied client portfolio. This is an ideal next step for someone wanting increased autonomy, deeper client engagement and a clear pathway into senior leadership. The role offers full remote working.
The Role
You will act as the day-to-day finance lead for your clients, overseeing all core reporting, controls and outsourced support. This is a hands-on, client-facing remit with significant influence over financial processes, systems, and service delivery.
- Full ownership of year-end accounts, management reporting and corporation tax preparation.
- Leading all client communication, acting as the primary point of contact for your portfolio.
- Reviewing and approving VAT returns, escalating complex cases where required.
- Overseeing accounts payable workflows and outsourced bookkeeping providers to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Conducting and reviewing reconciliations, stepping into hands-on work when needed to maintain standards.
- Monitoring KPIs, recoveries, time spent and scope drift; working with leadership to resolve issues promptly.
- Educating clients on efficient processes and improving internal financial controls.
- Identifying opportunities for upsell and cross-sell across wider service lines.
- Championing technology adoption and process automation across the finance function.

About You
We are looking for someone who brings:
- At least 3-5 yearsβ experience in a UK accounting practice, with strong technical grounding across month-end and year-end reporting.
- Excellent Xero, bookkeeping, reconciliations and financial controls experience.
- Strong communication skills and confidence managing client relationships.
- Proven ability to prioritise and thrive in a remote, fast-paced environment.
- Interest in start-ups, technology-enabled finance and process improvement.
