About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Analyst to join a well-established global organisation on a TEMPORARY BASIS within a centralised Payroll Hub. This position plays a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of UK payrolls while supporting compliance with statutory obligations and driving continuous process improvements.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will oversee payroll activities, act as an escalation point for technical payroll queries, support systems enhancements, and help ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Using SAP, Process and oversee UK payrolls, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments.
  • Coordinate payroll inputs and validate payroll data prior to processing.
  • Ensure payroll activities are accurately posted to the General Ledger and complete all post-payroll activities.
  • Produce and finalise payment files for monthly payroll runs.
  • Ensure compliance with all UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Calculate and process statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP.
  • Perform manual payroll calculations for part-month, retrospective and ad hoc payments.
  • Investigate payroll variances and provide detailed analysis for significant discrepancies.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex payroll and system-related queries.
  • Support payroll system upgrades, testing activities and process improvements.
  • Maintain up-to-date payroll procedures and identify efficiency opportunities.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience with SAP Payroll and SAP Finance is a perquisite.
  • Experience working within an in-house UK payroll environment.
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory payments.
  • Knowledge of payroll journals and how payroll transactions feed into financial reporting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous involvement in payroll audits.
  • Exposure to payroll system testing and upgrades.
  • Understanding of Workday.
  • Payroll qualification or currently studying towards one.
