The business develops and manufactures high-precision electromagnetic equipment for applications within the science and healthcare sectors. This role would suit a Production Engineer who enjoys getting involved on the shop floor, solving problems and working closely with operators to improve the way products are manufactured.

The Role

Key Responsibilities

As the Production Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing day-to-day engineering assistance across multiple production areas.
  • Working directly with production operators to understand issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Delivering practical training and guidance to operators, ensuring processes and procedures are clearly understood.
  • Becoming familiar with products and manufacturing methods by supporting builds and production activities.
  • Investigating equipment problems, production interruptions and recurring process issues.
  • Identifying the root causes of manufacturing problems and implementing improvements.
  • Creating, updating and simplifying work instructions, technical documentation and production handover information.
  • Reviewing existing processes and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability and ease of manufacture.
  • Improving tooling, equipment and production facilities to support better manufacturing performance.
  • Assisting with the introduction of new products and transferring development or project builds into repeatable production processes.
  • Supporting the development of robust manufacturing methods that can be adopted across production.
  • Working closely with engineering and production colleagues to reduce downtime, improve output and maintain quality standards.

About You

We are looking for a Production Engineer who is comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment and enjoys tackling practical engineering challenges.

You should have:

  • Previous experience in a production, manufacturing or process engineering position.
  • A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical engineering experience.
  • Strong technical problem-solving abilities.
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to spend time working directly within production.
  • The ability to communicate technical information clearly to operators and colleagues.
  • Experience creating or improving technical documentation and work instructions.
  • A methodical approach to investigating faults and identifying underlying causes.
  • The ability to manage several priorities within a busy manufacturing environment.
  • A proactive attitude towards process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • The confidence to work collaboratively with production, engineering and other internal teams.
