Talented People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Logistics Coordinator to join their team in Storrington. This is a varied logistics, shipping and import/export role, taking responsibility for coordinating UK and international shipments, managing customs documentation and ensuring goods are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.
Key Logistics Responsibilities
- Planning, coordinating and monitoring UK and international shipments
- Arranging transport through approved carriers and freight providers
- Preparing accurate shipping, import and export documentation
- Monitoring shipments from collection through to delivery and proactively resolving any issues or delays
- Liaising with customers, suppliers, carriers and internal teams regarding deliveries
- Maintaining accurate shipping, customs and transport records
- Creating and maintaining sales orders and ensuring order information remains accurate and up to date
- Processing customer orders for despatch and supporting associated invoicing
- Ensuring shipments comply with relevant UK customs and international trade requirements
- Applying Incoterms correctly across international shipments
- Managing customs information including commodity/HS codes, customs values and country of origin declarations
- Maintaining transport and shipment records for imported and exported goods
- Supporting customs relief processes for goods being imported and subsequently re-exported
- Handling customs, import and duty-related queries
- Supporting ongoing customs and trade compliance requirements, including internal reviews and audits
- Raising purchase orders for transport, freight and logistics services
- Supporting improvements to logistics systems, procedures and processes
- Ensuring logistics activities meet relevant legal, regulatory and quality requirements
- Providing additional administrative support where required
Logistics Experience Required
- Strong previous experience within a Logistics Coordinator, Shipping Coordinator, Import/Export or Supply Chain position
- Experience coordinating both UK and international shipments
- Good knowledge of customs procedures, imports, exports and Incoterms
- Experience preparing shipping and customs documentation
- Understanding of commodity/HS codes and country of origin requirements
- Experience working with sales orders, purchase orders and associated invoicing
- Excellent organisation and planning skills with strong attention to detail
- Confident managing multiple shipments and priorities within a busy environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of logistics activities
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, technical or engineering-related environment would be beneficial
- Knowledge of customs relief procedures for imported and re-exported goods would be advantageous
- Experience supporting customs compliance and audit requirements would be beneficial
- Knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations, including IATA and ADR, would be desirable
