A rapidly growing renewable energy developer is seeking an experienced Grid Connections Manager to support the delivery of its UK project pipeline. This role is essential for securing and managing grid capacity for large-scale renewable and energy storage projects.
The Role
- Identify and evaluate grid connection opportunities across transmission and distribution networks
- Provide grid expertise during site selection, feasibility studies and early project development
- Lead grid connection applications, review offers and negotiate agreements with DNOs, IDNOs and National Grid ESO
- Manage network studies, capacity assessments, constraint analysis and reinforcement requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with network operators, consultants and industry stakeholders
- Track grid policy and regulatory changes (Ofgem, National Grid ESO) and brief the team on impacts
- Support a range of technologies, including solar, onshore wind, BESS and grid support solutions
- Use grid analysis tools, GIS and network datasets to inform strategy and identify new opportunities
- Optimise grid costs and timelines to enhance project viability
- Ensure compliance with grid code and all obligations within connection agreements
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems or similar discipline
- 5–8+ years of UK grid connections experience
- Strong understanding of grid connection processes, network planning and capacity assessments
- Proven experience securing and managing grid connections for renewable and/or storage projects
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical data
- Confident communicator with experience working directly with DNOs, IDNOs and ESO
- Commercial awareness of grid delivery timelines and cost drivers
- Passion for renewable energy and the net-zero transition
