We’re currently looking for a Hire Controller for one of our clients based near Haywards Heath. This role is central to the day-to-day running of a hire desk, ensuring effective scheduling, high standards of customer service, and efficient deployment of our fleet across key service areas including sweepers, tankers, and CCTV units.

Job Specification:

  • Act as the first point of contact for customer bookings and enquiries via phone and email.
  • Manage daily logistics, including preparing schedules for drivers and conducting end-of-day debriefs.
  • Handle bookings with accuracy, ensuring clear and thorough instructions for field teams.
  • Work closely with operations and finance to assist with invoicing, reporting, and administrative duties.
  • Support ongoing operational safety, customer satisfaction, and team development initiatives.
  • Provide support to the General Manager and team leader with various day-to-day tasks.

  • Strong communication skills and confidence in dealing with customers and team members.
  • High attention to detail and an organised, methodical approach to workload.
  • A team player who can also work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Competent with Microsoft Word and Excel; quick to learn internal systems.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to support training and improvement activities.
  • Experience within transport, hire controlling and invoicing is essential.
