Design Engineer

Job Title: Design Engineer Location: Crawley, West Sussex Salary: £25,000 – £35,000 Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Recruiter: Talented People Talented People is currently recruiting on behalf of a leading UK manufacturer of small household appliances. We are looking for a Design Engineer with 2–3 years of industry experience to join a fast-paced design team, bringing high-quality products from concept through to production. Role Overview In this hands-on, design-focused role, you’ll be involved at every stage of the product lifecycle. From sketching early concepts to testing prototypes, your creativity and technical skills will help shape the next generation of innovative products. Key Responsibilities of the Design Engineer: * Develop product concepts and present design sketches to senior stakeholders * Produce technical drawings and manage product documentation * Conduct benchmark and lifecycle testing to ensure quality and performance * Support product improvements through data analysis and fault resolution * Collaborate with suppliers, engineers, and internal teams * Ensure safety, compliance, and certification standards are met What We\’re Looking For Essential Skills & Experience of the Design Engineer: * Degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or similar * 2–3 years’ experience in a design engineering role * Confident hand sketching and idea presentation * Proficient in 3D CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks, or similar) * Understanding of manufacturing processes and materials * Highly organised, with strong time and project management skills Desirable: * Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) * Rendering software or model-making experience * Analytical mindset for testing and continuous improvement Benefits & Location * Full-time, permanent role based in Crawley, West Sussex * Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM * Easily accessible location near Gatwick Airport * Supportive and collaborative team culture * Opportunity to make a real impact in a visible, hands-on role Apply Now Are you ready to kick-start your design engineering career and work on products that people use every day?
