A UK-based manufacturer of security systems, gates, and barrier equipment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its production team at its Crawley facility. This is a workshop-based assembly role focused on the build of bespoke mechanical products for residential and commercial applications.

Role Overview

The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for the final mechanical assembly of security equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and job-specific build documentation, ensuring all products meet required quality, safety, and aesthetic standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble bespoke mechanical security systems in line with engineering drawings
  • Build and integrate pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Carry out mechanical fitting, alignment, and adjustment work
  • Collate components and materials required for each build, including unloading deliveries
  • Ensure products meet high-quality and aesthetic standards prior to release
  • Prepare completed equipment for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
  • Complete all production, quality, and build documentation
  • Use manual handling equipment safely and in line with company procedures

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Assembly Technician
  • Hands-on experience with pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings
  • Comfortable working to deadlines and prioritising workloads
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and right-first-time approach
  • Good communication skills at all levels

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • Forklift licence
  • Experience assembling gates, barriers, access control, or similar mechanical systems
  • Manufacturing or production environment background

Salary & Benefits

  • £29,000 – £34,000 per annum (depending on experience)
