The Advanced Associate Content Producer, Assessments supports the development, testing, and quality assurance of formative and summative assessments used across Pearson’s courseware. The role involves working independently on defined tasks while applying foundational knowledge of instructional design, assessment creation practices, learning objectives, and course structure. This position contributes to team projects and develops expertise in assessment workflows. The associate reviews, refines, and validates both AI generated and human authored assessment items while maintaining strong organization, attention to detail, and collaboration with cross functional teams.

Scope and Impact

  • Contribute to the development of valid, reliable, and instructionally aligned assessment assets that influence learner outcomes.
  • Help ensure assessments meet clarity, fairness, accessibility, and technical standards within Pearson courseware.
  • Support production workflows that affect product quality, readiness, and release timelines.
  • Identify potential risks or quality concerns and elevate them when necessary to maintain content accuracy and schedules.
  • Maintain structured documentation, accurate metadata, and audit-ready records for assessment content.
  • Responsible for ensuring quiz and assessment activities follow established budgets.

The quality of assessments directly affects the value and marketability of courseware products. This role does not include direct supervisory duties, but may assist with onboarding subject matter experts, coordinating vendor tasks, or supporting review teams.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assessment Creation and Item Development
    • Create, review, and revise assessment items in multiple formats including multiple choice, multiple select, short answer, drag and drop, match list, dropdown, and scenario based questions.
    • Ensure questions align with learning objectives, course outcomes, and appropriate cognitive levels.
    • Evaluate items for clarity, accuracy, fairness, readability, and instructional effectiveness.
    • Refine prompts, stems, and distractors to strengthen validity and reliability.
  • AI Enabled Assessment Generation
    • Use Pearson AI assessment tools such as the Prompt Library, Assessment Prompt Generator, and PAICE Assessment Generation Tool to generate and improve question sets.
    • Create effective prompts, assess AI outputs, and iteratively refine questions using editorial and pedagogical judgment.
    • Maintain organized documentation of prompts, instructions, and generated outputs to support compliance and revision workflows.
  • Testing, QA and Technical Validation
    • Perform end-to-end quality checks covering content accuracy, cognitive appropriateness, metadata completeness, and platform functionality.
    • Test SCORM packaged content or LMS integrated assessments to verify navigation, scoring, and user experience behavior.
    • Validate accessibility standards including alt text, screen reader compatibility, keyboard navigation, and clear wording.
  • Content Tracking, Metadata and Documentation
    • Maintain detailed metadata such as difficulty level, objective mapping, taxonomy, item type, and version control.
    • Track revisions and manage inventories of assessment assets to maintain organized content records.
    • Prepare documentation for subject matter experts, vendors, and downstream production teams.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration
    • Work with content producers, editors, instructional designers, subject matter experts, and vendors to ensure assessments support course learning paths.
    • Participate in project meetings, provide progress updates, and contribute recommendations during development cycles.
    • Support onboarding of vendors or new team members by sharing templates, standards, and quality review practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, English, or related field.
