The Scrum Master will operate as a Servant Leader and facilitator for 2-3 Agile teams, ensuring the effective implementation of Scrum and Kanban principles. The successful candidate will be a strong negotiator, have excellent logic and problem-solving skills and drive to make a difference. We need an individual that puts the team before themselves. They will be responsible for enforcing the rules of Scrum, removing impediments from their team, while promoting self-management and consistently driving a culture of continuous improvement.
Liaison & Communication
- Serve as liaison between technical and non-technical departments.
- Communicate with other management, developers, product owners and technical support specialists on product issues.
- Coach the team on best practices (maintaining a healthy backlog, develop high quality user stories, estimating and delivery).
Development
- Organize and facilitate project planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings.
- Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress.
- Maintain process documentation.
- Ensure the team members are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.
Application Support
- Assist as needed with backlog maintenance and reviewing quality of user stories.
- Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
- Assist with prioritization and resolution of defects / bugs.
Management
- Participate proactively in developing and maintaining team working agreement, standards, and tools.
- Develop and manage Team performance metrics, leverage to drive efficiencies in the process.
- Identify and remove impediments, prevents distractions.
- Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution.
- Empower the team to self-organize.
Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification
- Four-year college diploma or university degree in computer systems design or computer science, and/or 10 years equivalent work experience.
- Must be a Certified Scrum Master, Scaled Agile (SAFe) experience and certification is a plus.
Knowledge & Experience
- Scrum Master or Business Analyst experience is preferred.
- Understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
- Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Understanding of organization's development platform and languages.
- Ability to understand technical issues.
