Financial Controller

Merseyside | £70,000–£80,000 + Bonus and Benefits | Hybrid Working

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a commercially focused Financial Controller to join a rapidly expanding £18m-turnover business near Knowsley.

Already on a strong growth trajectory, the business expects to double in size over the next three years through continued UK growth and international expansion into new territories. As the number one finance professional in the business, you will report directly to the Managing Director, lead a finance team of four and work closely with the senior leadership team. This is a highly visible and influential role, with the opportunity to make a direct impact on business performance and progress to Finance Director in time.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Acting as a trusted business partner to the Managing Director and senior leadership team




• Leading, managing and developing a finance team of four




• Preparing and presenting timely and accurate management accounts, financial statements and reports




• Leading the annual budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with departmental heads




• Providing detailed variance analysis and meaningful commentary on performance, risks and opportunities




• Delivering sales and margin analysis across product lines and geographical revenue streams




• Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and tax requirements across multiple territories




• Identifying financial risks associated with international operations and developing appropriate policies and controls to mitigate them




• Supporting the company’s M&A strategy




• Coordinating with external auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure timely and efficient audits




• Developing best-practice financial processes, controls and systems capable of supporting the evolving needs of a growing international business




• Creating a collaborative finance environment that encourages professional development, high performance and continuous improvement

The successful candidate

Applicants must be fully qualified CIMA, ACA or ACCA professionals with previous experience operating as the number one finance professional within a rapidly expanding business. You will also be able to demonstrate:

• A strong track record of making a direct impact on business performance




• Excellent commercial awareness and business-partnering skills




• The confidence and credibility to work closely with an MD and senior leadership team




• Experience of collaborating effectively across all key areas of a business




• Strong leadership and team-development capabilities




• The ability to succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving environment

Salary and benefits

• Salary of £70,000–£80,000, with possible flexibility for an exceptional candidate




• Performance-related bonus




• Flexible working around core hours of 10am – 4pm




• Hybrid working: four days in the office and one day from home
