OCS is looking for a catering assistant. The role involves serving food and beverages to customers in a friendly and professional manner, supporting the setup and close‑down of catering areas, maintaining cleanliness of kitchen, service and dining areas, washing utensils, dishes and equipment, replenishing food, beverages and consumables during service periods, following all food safety, health and safety and hygiene procedures, using catering equipment safely and correctly, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth service delivery, and providing a positive and customer‑focused experience at all times.
Working Hours: This position will be based at Redcar Primary Care Hospital, serving meals and beverages on the ward. The earliest start time is 6:45 am with a 1:15 pm finish or a 12:30 pm start with a 7:00 pm finish. The role includes working alternate weekends, which is paid at an enhanced rate of pay. The position is a fixed‑term 12‑week contract, which could be extended.
Requirements:
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo a DBS check.
- Previous experience in a catering, hospitality or food service environment (desirable but not essential).
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and safe handling practices.
- Positive, friendly and customer‑focused attitude.
- Ability to work well as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Good time‑keeping, reliability and a flexible approach to work.
- Willingness to follow instructions and procedures.
