We’re currently supporting an established organisation looking for an IT Network Engineer to join their infrastructure team.
This is a varied role where you’ll be involved in the day-to-day management of the network environment, as well as contributing to wider infrastructure improvements and projects.
The Role
As an IT Network Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and improving network infrastructure across both on-premise and cloud environments.
You’ll work closely with wider infrastructure and technology teams, helping to deliver reliable, secure and scalable solutions while supporting the ongoing development of the organisation’s technology environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain network infrastructure across on-premise and cloud environments.
- Support and develop Microsoft Azure networking and cloud infrastructure.
- Configure, manage and troubleshoot network technologies including BGP, OSPF and SD-WAN.
- Work with network load balancing technologies such as F5 or equivalent.
- Investigate and resolve complex network, connectivity and infrastructure issues.
- Support network security initiatives, including the implementation of Zero Trust principles.
- Monitor network performance, availability and security, proactively identifying potential issues.
- Support vulnerability management, patching and remediation across the infrastructure environment.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, network configurations and service records.
- Work with internal technical teams and third-party suppliers on infrastructure projects and improvements.
- Ensure appropriate backup, configuration management and business continuity processes are in place.
- Contribute to automation and Infrastructure as Code initiatives.
- Support the continued improvement of infrastructure processes, tools and services.
Skills & Experience
- Several years’ experience working within a Network Engineering, Network Infrastructure or similar technical role.
- Strong hands-on networking experience across technologies including BGP, OSPF, SD-WAN and network load balancing.
- Experience working across both on-premise and cloud environments.
- Exposure to Microsoft Azure networking and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex connectivity issues.
- Good understanding of network security and infrastructure best practices.
- Experience with monitoring tools and proactive network management.
- Exposure to automation or Infrastructure as Code would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of technologies such as Terraform, AKS or Azure Functions would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Understanding of ITIL processes and experience working within an IT Service Management environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team.
