Our client, a global consultancy, is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to support a business-critical programme within the UK Public Sector.
This role is a unique blend of high-level infrastructure maintenance and modern automation. You will be responsible for the stability and performance of complex legacy environments while driving the adoption of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing. You will act as the technical backbone for a diverse estate, ensuring that critical applications—from Oracle databases to WebLogic servers remain robust and scalable.
Technical Responsibilities- Infrastructure Maintenance: Troubleshooting and maintaining business-critical legacy applications including WebLogic, Elasticsearch, and Oracle.
- Database Administration: Installing and supporting Oracle 11 (including Partitioning, RAC, and RMAN). Knowledge of PL/SQL is highly desirable.
- Automation & DevOps: Building and supporting CI/CD pipelines, refactoring infrastructure code, and developing automated test suites.
- Virtualisation & Containers: Hands-on management of Docker and VMWare ESX v6 environments.
- Web & Middleware: Managing Nginx, Apache Tomcat/HTTP, and supporting ETL processes.
- Diverse OS Management: Proficiency across Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, Oracle Solaris 10, and Windows Server (2008/2016/2019).
- Active NPPV & SC Clearance: You must currently hold active SC Clearance. Due to the urgent nature of the project, we cannot consider candidates without existing clearance.
- Public Sector Expertise: Proven experience operating as a Platform Engineer within a UK government or public sector framework.
- IBM Initiate MDM: Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) tools is a significant advantage.
- Hybrid Approach: A "Reliability-first" mindset, comfortable balancing legacy system support with modern cloud-ready practices.
